The board of directors at Victoria Academies Trust are legally responsible for Rowley Park Academy. In order to discharge their responsibility, they have appointed a local governing body to govern them.
Governors meet twice per term in addition to termly committee meetings. All Governors are expected to make a formal visit to the school each year to monitor the impact of their decisions and the progress the Headteacher is making towards securing school improvement.
In addition to the Governing Body, the Academy Trust has appointed 6 Governors to serve as Company Directors (or trustees). The Board of Directors meet at least once per year for an Annual General Meeting. More details will be available on this website nearer the time.
Mrs Ruth Mashiter is the Company Secretary (previously known as the Clerk to the Governors) and can be contacted via the school.
The Chair of Governors is Mrs Kate Meecham. If you would like to contact her please do so via the school.
Copies of all meetings of the Governing Body are available on request. Please contact the school.
From time to time we have vacancies for a parent governor. If you would like to know more about being a Parent Governor or would like to be considered as a Parent Governor when the next vacancy arises please contact the school to let us know.
The local governing body consists of:
Mrs Kate Tewley
Chair of Governors
Mrs Kate Meecham
Parent Governor and Chair of Governors (from September 2016).
I am the parent of two children in the school. I am by profession a Lawyer. I have been the Chair of Governors since September 2016. I am also Safeguarding Governor for the school. I am really pleased to be in this new role and I will work very hard to make sure that I do my best for the school.
I am passionate about RPA and I am very focused on making sure that we include and reach out to as many parents as possible. I believe that as a school we will continue to grow best if we all work together to help our children get the best that they can out of the school. Our children deserve the very best education but I think that they will learn better and be happier if they are educated in a nurturing environment. I think parents are ideally placed to support the school to achieve this. The feedback to date from Parent Voice sessions so far has been brilliant. The school have really listened to parents and have reacted to suggestions. I hope that more parents will attend future meetings.
I am really positive about the changes made within our school. I am however not afraid to challenge the leadership team or the trust and take my role as a critical friend to the leaders of our school very seriously. I have no problem in asking difficult questions and pursuing answers. I remain very mindful of the fact that I was elected by parents to be a Governor. My focus will remain on ensuring that decisions that are made continue to be in the best interests of our children.
1 Staff Governor
Ms Sarah Lewis
I am a staff governor at Rowley Park Academy. I am a teacher in Year 3 and I am the English Leader. I joined the governing body as I am passionate about the education we provide for all pupils and I wanted to be a voice for the staff as we strive towards academic excellence.
2 Parent Governors
Mrs C Rix
2 Community Governor
Mr K Gibbons
I live in Stafford with my wife and two daughters, I am 53 year’s old and I have spent most of my adult life working as an electrical and security engineer. Six years ago I joined my wife’s company, an internet based fancy dress and party supplies business.
Since volunteering at gymnastics when my daughters were young I now manage the club. Based at the RPA the voluntary run club provides classes for around 150 children of all ages.
As a community governor I oversee the N.I.C.E.R curriculum.
My hobbies include gymnastics coaching and swimming. I also have a motor cycle which I like to take for a spin when the weather allows.
1 Co-opted Governor
Mr Justin Phillips
I am a father of three children, two of whom currently attend Rowley Park Academy and their education is highly important to me. I believe all of our children deserve and benefit from early learning opportunity . I feel that being a Governor is the best way I can support the school and its pupils.
Professionally, I am Head of QA for a Local Telecommunications software company where I examine computer applications for defects and assist in their improvement. I hope my assessment and communication skills will add to our team of passionate and interested Governors. The committed staff at Rowley Park Academy are helping to prepare our children for their future and I welcome the opportunity to support them on their journey.
The board may appoint any additional governors as they see fit.
