We want children to develop a passion and excitement about learning scientific knowledge and skills a through purposeful, hands on curriculum. Through first hand, practical experience children at Rowley Park Academy are able to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world in which they live.
Our curriculum ensures pupils develop their understanding of biology, chemistry and physics by providing opportunities for them to observe, question, investigate, classify and measure. As well as giving them the tools they need to evaluate and communicate their findings.
In Science, as across our whole curriculum, pupils apply their thinking skills through the use of their cort 1 skills, learning power tools and thinking hats to deepen their understanding of the world around them and develop their independence.
Purposeful links are made with our NICER curriculum where appropriate, in challenge packs such as Space Infinity and Man v Food. Whilst other scientific areas of learning are taught alongside the NICER curriculum such as exploring magnets and forces, evolution and inheritance and electricity.
